Wonderful hand-built and hand-painted small pot by Laguna and Acoma potters Claude and Theda. Claude digs the clay, adds temper and the forms pots using the pinch method where he shapes each piece not through coiling and scraping but just moving the clay in his hands until the shape appears. Theda paints the pots with classic designs and unique patterns. In order for Claude to have this beautiul clay he has to find red river rocks and grind them to make the temper. This pot has a simple geometric pattern and each strait line on an Acoma pot represents a prayer for rain.
